I am officially 44 today. Having spent a few years on the other side of 40 I try to challenge myself each year to do at least one thing that really matters to me. As adults it’s so easy to lose sight of our priorities and get lost in the day to day motions of life. I always remind myself that nothing changes if nothing changes, so I try to make little changes as often as I can that keep me feeling accomplished, on task, and moving forward.

For my birthday, we enjoyed four days full of celebration that were all about family, friends, food, and fun. My hubby is a true foodie (and it was his birthday weekend as well), so we indulged in a mix of delightful dishes from the Congo, Ethiopia. Jamaica, and Japan. We went shopping, attended the annual Reptile Show, caught a movie and took a few naps here and there. We even squeezed in a one day business workshop! Reconnecting with business besties that I had not seen in years was priceless. And if I am going to retire as a millionaire by 50, spending more time with my seven-figure friends just makes sense. As they say, “Success Leaves Clues”.

I really love a good trip and I love making memorable moments. But in the back of my mind, in true entrepreneur fashion, I desperately wanted to find a quiet corner and get some work done! Business is in my blood. It’s my fire and my fuel, so I set aside some time to knock out a Birthday Bucket List! First I spent about ten minutes brainstorming a list of things that I’ve been meaning to do. Now I’m taking a few quiet hours to do what I can. My goal is not to rush or to overextend. I simply want to give myself the “Gift of Progress.” If that sounds like something you would like to do too, join me. Whether it’s your birthday or not, I challenge you to create a 24 Hour Business Bucket list. Get quiet, get focused, and get back to the business of prioritizing you + the things that matter most to you.
